Changi Airport Recreation Club
Changi Airport Recreation Club (CARC), a recreational hub for Changi Airport staff and affiliate partners, required a massive overhaul of their digital operations.
Prior to this project, CARC was operating on a 15-year-old system that presents many challenges. The previous system lacked automation. Staff were burdened with manual processes for registering members and managing renewals, creating administrative bottlenecks. Members faced a non-responsive interface that was difficult to navigate and book facilities on mobile devices. Crucially, the system lacked a seamless online payment gateway, forcing manual or counter-based transactions for memberships and bookings.
SOLUTION
A Bespoke, Logic-Driven Ecosystem
We engineered a responsive, cloud-hosted Member Portal that serves two distinct masters: the Member (ease of use) and the Administrator (total control).
We moved beyond simple sign-ups. The new portal handles a multi-tiered membership system with distinct workflows:
- Certain member types can register using corporate emails and attach documents directly for admin verification.
- The system automates renewals with email triggers sent prior to expiry, and allows for immediate online renewal payments.
As the core part of the requirements, we also developed a membership portal and a facility booking engine that is capable of handling CARC’s intricate business rules:
- Administrators can now set prices down to the specific hour and day, differentiating rates for different member tiers.
- Similar facilities are grouped for side-by-side comparison, solving the UX friction of the previous calendar view.
- A robust Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for different admins.
- A flexible widget-based CMS for updating content easily.

THE RESULTS
The launch of the CARC Members Portal has successfully bridged the gap between complex operational requirements and modern user expectations.
Members can now complete the entire journey — from application to facility booking and payment — with minimal staff intervention.
The new CARC portal also reduces administrative overhead by automating various registration, renewals and facility booking processes. Additionally, automated reports provide immediate insights into club operations and revenue.
By translating CARC’s complex offline rules into a seamless online logic, we didn’t just update a website; we digitized the club’s entire operational handbook. The result is a future-proof platform that saves staff time and delights members.
